RIP Brian Jacques. [link]

I read my first Redwall book in first grade (I'm 25 right now, so there's some context). That hit off a friendship that I kept for a good long while (thank god for Facebook that I can keep it going). I drew fanart. I wrote fanfiction before I knew what fanfiction WAS. I READ SO MUCH. I got my sister in to reading through this series as I read them aloud to her and my other sister. I read every single book until DigiPen got in the way.

I know I must've read other books before this, my mom will go on and on to people over how much I read when I was little. But the Redwall series is what I remember as being my first real love in the literary world. I wish I could do something other than a simple sketch. This author and this world deserve so much more from me than I can give right now.

Brian Jacques, thank you so much for the adventures.

I love this vision of him. I read a lot of Brian Jacques books. This is a very nice memorial to him and his books.

If you've never seen/read 12 Kingdoms by Fuyumi Ono, I recommend it (this image reminds me of it.)

A great portrait of Martin. I really like your linework and shading :) I think Brian Jacques would have loved it.

Beautiful picture. Like you I grew up with those books, they meant a lot to me. I remember the thrill of discovering them and realising there were loads of others to track down. I started talking to the new girl in the class because she was reading these books and 10 years later we're still best friends :) I owe Brian Jacques a lot.

Y'ever seen/read Fuyumi Ono's '12 Kingdoms?' There's a mouse/rat character in that with an admirable personality. Not really a warrior, though.

Goodness. I started off reading these books because we had a reading program in our elementary school where you would read a book and then take a quiz on the book. The bigger the book, the more points they were worth, so naturally I picked the largest books - Hello, Brian Jacques!

As fate would have it, I found out how great the books really were. I kept reading them not for the points, but because i LOVED the books. And, i LOVE this picture! Great job!

Exactly! I couldn't stop reading them. To this day it's still hard to find books that are that good.
